Insulin Savings Cards

Insulin prices in The United States are really freaking expensive. Amirite?! An "Insulin Crisis" if you will. The cost of insulin has increased 300% in the last 10 years resulting in people rationing their insulin and dying. This breaks my heart. Frederick Banting sold his patent for insulin for $1 for a reason - so EVERYONE would have access to it. #insulin4all

I've noticed many people do not know about the insulin savings cards you can obtain via the internet in about 5-10 minutes! These cards are for people who do have insurance, but their price of insulin is still astronomical even with 'coverage.' I've also been given a Tresiba insulin savings card directly from my Endocrinologist. I suggest asking your doctor for one if your insurance doesn't cover much of the cost! My Endo knew that my insurance prefers Lantus, so she handed me a savings card in order to bring the cost of my new Tresiba prescription down to an affordable range.

Yesterday, I went to refill my prescription of Tresiba at my local pharmacy. There is always a delay and an email that follows saying, "There was an issue with your insurance." Uh huh, yeah they don't want to cover it. I know. I usually wait another day, and they fill the prescription just with a high price.

Before heading to the pharmacy to pick up my Tresiba, I googled "Tresiba Savings Card" and clicked on the NovoCare website to apply for a new savings card. They have added a few additional questions to their 4 step questionnaire, but it still took less than 5 minutes for me to receive a new savings card via email or text! Just take a photo or print out of the card and take it to your local pharmacy. They will enter it into the system to see how much it can save you. Your card will be stored in their system when you pick up your next prescription. I believe each savings card is good for up to 2 years, but make sure to read the fine print!

My Savings:

For a 3 month supply of Tresiba (4 pens for me)
Original Price: $495.89
With My Insurance: $210
With Tresiba Instant Savings Card: $15
